Rafting in Catalunya

Last weekend of June, we went to River Lleida for rafting.

Travel time: It took us 4 hours to arrive at the rafting center but we stopped for shopping for 30 minutes on the way.  Total distance is 246 kilometers from Barcelona city center. First 200 kilometers was a good drive through free highway. Last 46 kilometers is climbing through Pyrenees and this part of the road is basically driving eights on a narrow road but it is fine and full of wonderful views over the mountains. This river is very close to French border.

We were seven people in one car. So we drove slowly. First you find a rafting school and there they teach you the theorotical basics of rafting then you start rafting you have an instructor on board with you who seats on the back of the inflatable boat and ususally helps with directions.

River lleida's flow rate is high due to melting snow in Andorra and in Pyrennes but we went there on the last week of june so the flow rate was quite low.

Altough we had enough fun as  rookies.  Water is cold but in June it was really stupendous under sunlight and 32 degrees.

Whole journey from the top of the river to the plateau took one hour and it is approximately 12 kilometers.
Rafting is not easy and the day after you get some muscle strain.

There is a barbecue zone just accross the rafting school and if you have enough time, it is wise to cook some food and relax on the meadow grass.

On the way back home, we saw  reel fishing activities on the plateau part of the river which will be our new target to do. We are planning to go there again for fishing and next year we are planning to go back and excell  our rafting skills.

Enjoy.
